He is known as one of the creators of the main style of the music duo 'Stax-Volt'. Bell gained popularity with his debut single in 1961, 'You Don't Miss Your Water', which was released in 1968 as a duet with Judy Clay. He is also known for his 1976 composition 'Tryin' To Love Two', which was his only track to enter the top 40 in the US.
